Education Budget Released for FY 08-09
Governor Tim Pawlenty's education budget budget and World-Class Students initiative are designed to take Minnesota students from nation-leading to world-competing.
Education Budget:
- $13.7 billion from the state's General Fund and is a 7.7% increase from FY 2006-07 spending; when the impact of education shift buy-backs are excluded.
- $714 million in new dollars for education
- Nearly 40 percent of the state general fund would be spent on education
- Every district receives general formula increase of two percent in each of the next two years. (Total of $294 million)

- One Year of Post-Secondary Education for Every Minnesota Student
- "3R" High Schools Rigor, Relevance, Results
- Effective Teachers for All Students
- Academic Rigor for All Students
- Closing the Achievement Gap
- Accountability for P-12 Education System
- Create Early Childhood Family Education Accountability Measures
- Technology Upgrades for schools
