MTAS Item SamplersAccountability Programs :

Teachers can use item samplers for the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills (MTAS) to familiarize themselves with the test format. The MTAS consists entirely of performance tasks, which the test administrator scores with the use of a rubric. The item samplers provide a small number of examples in reading, mathematics and science at various grade levels. Item samplers cannot predict how well students will perform on the MTAS.

The item samplers posted on this page are similar to the materials that will either be shipped to the district by Pearson or accessed in SchoolSuccess, the online system for the MTAS. A "P" indicates an example of the materials shipped by Pearson and an "S" indicates an example of the materials available in SchoolSuccess.

The MTAS item samplers for reading include the following test administration materials:
- Test administrator script with an embedded scoring rubric (P)
- Text-only version of the passage (P)
- PowerPoint version of the passage (S), presentation page (S), and response option cards (P)
- Boardmaker version of the passage (S), presentation page (S), and response option cards (P)

The MTAS item samplers for math and science include the following test administration materials:
- Test administrator script with an embedded scoring rubric (P)
- Presentation pages(s) (S)
- Response option cards (P)
