Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)-School Improvement
The Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) team of the School Improvement Division assists districts and schools identified as not making AYP by providing technical assistance with improvement planning. This technical assistance may take the form of consultation or training regarding the elements of the plan or the strategies and activities developed to increase student achievement. It may also include professional development for educators to support the specialized needs of individual schools and districts in areas such as teacher collaboration, leadership and student assessment. MDE is working in partnership with the regional service cooperatives to create a Statewide System of Support (SSOS) which offers thechnical assistance and program support.
Information regarding the identification of schools and districts not meeting AYP can be obtained through the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Programs. Visit the NCLB section of our site.
