Teacher Quality Enhancement Project

The Teacher Quality Enhancement Grant Project includes:

* Teacher Advancement Program (TAP), piloting site initiatives that tie teacher compensation to student achievement, staff development and overall school community improvement;

Minnesota First Five Project, serving to develop and pilot a statewide mentoring program for teachers in their first five years of teaching; and

Minnesota Teacher Recruitment Center, providing resources and support to districts in recruiting for hiring. The Center seeks to impact shortages of highly qualified teachers in high-need areas through alternative pathways for teacher certification.

The Teacher Quality Enhancement (TQE) Grant Project is responsible for the implementation of the federal Higher Education Act, Title II, Teacher Quality Enhancement Grant. TQE Project is a three-year grant to MDE totaling approximately $8.1 million from the U.S. Department of Education.
