School Technology
The School Technology Support and Outreach unit works directly with school districts in technology planning and the implementation of programs such as the Title II, Part D – Enhancing Education Through Technology (E2T2) program that is part of the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation passed by Congress in 2002. In addition to the E2T2 program, the School Technology Support and Outreach unit provides information, support, and outreach to school districts, charter schools, and nonpublic schools for technology planning and obtaining reduced cost telecommunications services through the federal E-rates telecommunications discount program. This unit also participates in state and national level education technology planning activities, including development of a statewide plan for technology in E-12 education.

Vouchers varying in dollar amounts from several hundred dollars to $6.3 million will go to 467 school districts and charter schools. The voucher amount available to each district or charter school is based upon its percentage of the state's total free and reduced price lunch eligible students. Vouchers can be redeemed for more than 1,500 eligible products from numerous companies, including Microsoft, from now until January 27, 2012. The settlement vouchers are intended to supplement current school technology budgets.
