The Mathematics Test for English Language Learners (MTELL) is an accommodated, computer-delivered mathematics test featuring simplified English. The MTELL provides students with the opportunity to listen to test items in addition to reading them. Pictures and diagrams help students understand the language used in the test items. The MTELL assesses the same grade level standards as the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments, Series II (MCA-II), but test items are designed to reduce the confounding effects of language on math performance.
