The files available on this page are provided as Excel spreadsheets. The format allows for easy import into database software and/or use with other tables of data.  

District Locator Table contains district number and district type as both numeric and text fields, the district name, zip code, the number and name of the county in which the district office is located, the district's Economic Development Region, the number and name of the district's ECSU (Service Cooperative) Region, and the US Congressional and MN Legislative districts in which the district office is located. This table can be linked to other data tables (or used as a reference list) for locating or grouping school districts by various criteria.

County Numbers & Names lists the number designation for each of Minnesota's 87 counties and that county's name. The Metro column can be used to sort the counties to extract the counties that make up the 7-county Metro area.

Unit Classifications lists the two-digit number commonly called the "school classification" and defines the entity each represents.

Unit Types lists the two-digit number commonly called the "district type" and defines the major educational entity each represents.
