School and District StatisticsData :

Minnesota Education Statistics Summary contains a wide variety of counts and summary information including numbers of districts, schools, students, teachers, etc.  The summary's purpose is to give an overview of data presented elsewhere in more detail.  

The most current summary is available below, with previous years' summaries accessible in the Content Archive at the left.

 Number of Instructional Days-Average by Public School District lists  the average number of instructional days reported by districts and charter schools, presenting the data in spreadsheet form.

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) collects the number of instructional days held at each school and grade level at the end of the school year. The number of days may vary among schools and by grades within a district, so an average number is computed for each district.

Minnesota statute, M.S. 120A.41 requires boards of independent school districts to schedule as many instructional days as were originally scheduled for the 1996-97 school year. The statute does not prevent a school board from modifying the calendar after the school year has started, e.g., snow days.
