Attendance Rates by School and District

These files list the attendance rates (attendance/membership) of schools and districts in Minnesota. Excel files are available by grade within a district, by grade within a school, by school within a district, or by district alone.

Average Daily Membership (ADM)

Average Daily Membership (ADM) is used to determine payments to districts. ADM and Pupil Units (PUN, also called weighted ADM or WADM) are calculated based on the year end data reported by school districts via MARSS. ADM represents the portion of the year that a student is enrolled in the district; it includes time that the student was scheduled to attend school but was absent. The weightings used for pupil units are specified in statute and are dependent on the student’s grade level. See the attached file structure for more details on the weightings as well as the definitions of the column names.

Adjusted ADM by District and Grade

These files include the Adjusted Average Daily Membership and also include grade level totals.

Student Mobility

These files list the number of students transferring into a district, transferring between schools within a district, and transferring out of a district before and during the school year. The Mobility Index is calculated by adding together the mid-year enrollments, transfers and withdrawals and then dividing by the district's October 1 enrollment. The Mobility Index is a characteristic of each school or district and represents how much activity annually occurs based on student transfers after the school year begins.
