Miscellaneous Maps
The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) provides the maps on this page for informational purposes.
Economic Development Regions are geographically defined areas of the state within which development-related activities, initiatives and data gathering can be targeted. When used by MDE, Economic Development Region (EconDevRgn) serves to define geographic segments of the state into which various educational data can be aggregated.
Regional Management Information Centers (RMIC) are primarily regionally located centers serving and supporting the computing and data needs of schools and school districts. Each serves those districts within its service area boundaries which choose to contract for services. An RMIC may also serve schools and districts from other areas of the state.
Service Cooperatives (ECSU) provide a variety of aggregated services, including purchasing, administration, insurance, training, etc., to a group of schools and school districts which choose to join their needs/resources to realize a more efficient use of resources, or to acquire services they might otherwise be unable to provide themselves. Each Service Cooperative's service area essentially encompasses one or more Economic Development Region, though through special arrangement, they can provide otherwise unavailable services to schools or districts in neighboring Service Cooperative areas.
