CACFP for Family Child Care
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) reimburses licensed family child care homes for nutritious meals and snacks served to infants and children 12 years of age and younger. Reimbursement is based on the income level of the local geographic area, the child care provider or the children in care. Up to two meals and one snack or one meal and two snacks a day can be reimbursed for each child.
Minnesota currently has 9 nonprofit family child care sponsoring organizations that administer the CACFP. Sponsors are responsible for recruiting, training, monitoring and reimbursing family child care providers.
