How to Identify a Recalled Commercial Product Containing USDA Commodity
1. Identify product produced from manufacturer who is recalling the product
2. Use the indicator on the label that the manufacturer has identified, to match the affected product, for example “lot code” or manufacturer date”
It is important to note that because manufacturers may use commercial labels on product sold commercially, even though they contain USDA commodity product, it may be difficult to identify the product. In a situation where it is not easy to identify whether the product is affected by the recall, the organization should contact the manufacturer for clarification.
