Categorical Disability Information

Minnesota has thirteen categorical disability areas and users can access information, resources, and contacts for each of the different areas. A team of qualified professionals, including parent(s), determines whether the student meets criteria in one of the thirteen categorical disability areas and is in need of special education services.      Regional low incidence facilitators provide training on evaluation and educational planning in the following areas: ASD, deaf-blind, TBI, deaf hard of hearing, DCD, OHD, blind/visual impairments, physical impairments, and SMI.
