Curriculum and Instruction

The principal guides the instructional program toward the achievement of clearly defined curricular goals and objectives.  The curriculum – developed by the staff with the active involvement of parents and community members – reflects the specific needs and values of the community, draws on research about how children with disabilities learn, and integrates the standards of professional subject area associations and core content as may be established by the state.  The school’s curriculum and instructional program will affect the ease with which principals implement legal requirements and sound practices related to educating children with disabilities.
