RULEMAKING DOCKET-K-12 Core Academic Standards for Science

Minnesota Rules, part 3501

Subject Matter:

The Minnesota Department of Education is proposing rules governing K-12 Core Academic Standards for Science. The department is required to adopt rules identical to those in the document titled “Minnesota Academic Standards, Science K-12, December 19, 2003, Minnesota Academic Standards Committee, Minnesota Department of Education.”

2004 Minnesota Laws, chapter 294, article 6, section 1, requires the department to adopt rules for K-12 Core Academic Standards for Science to be implemented for all students beginning in the 2005-2006 school year.

Status:

The department published the Request for Comments in the State Register on Monday, July 20, 2004. A comment period of at least 60 days must follow the publication of the Request for Comments. When this comment period is over the department will publish a Notice of Hearing, indicating the time and location of a hearing(s) on the proposed rules. In the interim, the department will complete its Statement of Need and Reasonableness (SONAR). Please check this web site at a later date if you wish to view the SONAR when it is completed.
