Portfolio Information

Notice:  Change in Procedure Effective October 1, 2007, all Licensure via Portfolio candidates who are recommended for a teaching license granted by the Minnesota Board of Teaching and Minnesota Department of Education, Educator Licensing will need to pass teacher testing requirements before applying for a license.  Licensure via Portfolio candidates with a Notice of Intent submitted prior to October 1, 2007 who have not met teacher testing requirements will be issued a one year license with the renewal condition that test requirements must be met to renew this license.

Portfolios must use the appropriate forms and grids and be organized using the prescribed tabs. The required forms are available as templates for candidates to present information needed to complete a portfolio. Forms to use in the development of your portfolio are available below.

Individuals seeking an initial Minnesota Teaching license must successfully complete both a Standards of Effective Practice and Content/Subject Matter portfolio. Applicants must use the Evidence of Competency grids to direct portfolio reviewers to evidence for each standard.

Individuals holding a current Minnesota teaching license seeking to add licensure in an additional subject area or expand the content area or age/grade level, will need to successfully complete a Content/Subject Matter portfolio.
