What is an Example of a Team at the Various School Levels?

There are many ways teams can be structured at each of the various school levels, including: interdisciplinary, inter-grade level, departmental, and grade level. These teams should include specialists in the areas of special education, elective courses (e.g., industrial technology, home economics, foreign language, band, choir, music) school nurse, administrators and counselors.

Interdisciplinary team:

• One classroom teacher: language arts, science, math, social studies, and physical education

• Counselor serving the students on the team

• Administrator

• Special education teachers who have a majority of students on the team

• Elective course teachers

• Support staff

Inter-grade level team:

• One classroom teacher from each subject area at each grade level

• Counselors

• Administrators

• Special education teachers

• Support staff

Departmental team:

• All teachers in the building working with students in a particular subject

• Special education teachers as appropriate

• Support staff

Grade level team:

• All teachers working with a particular grade level of students

• All specialists working with students at the grade level (majority)

• Counselors and support staff

• Administrators

• Others as appropriate
