Description: This two-day orientation program provides a framework for practice for baccalaureate-prepared nurses who are new to the school nurse role. Topics cover required and essential components of school health services in Minnesota elementary and secondary schools including addressing needs of children with disabilities and chronic health conditions.

Target Audience: Licensed school nurses new to the profession, public health nurses contracted to serve nonpublic and charter schools and experienced school nurses looking for a spirited and rejuvenating learning experience are encouraged to attend. School nurse licensure is granted by the Board of Teaching to RN’s with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and public health nursing certification.
