Roseville – As part of a series of school visits across Minnesota, Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius will host a roundtable on early education and Governor Dayton’s budget this Thursday in Winona. The Commissioner will join Winona Superintendent Dr. Scott Hannon, teachers and administrators to talk about the current state of early education in Winona. The roundtable comes after productive meetings on early education this week in Marshall and Moorhead.
In his budget, Governor Mark Dayton proposed investing $84 million in early education, ensuring more youth have access to educational opportunities before beginning first grade. This investment includes $44 million to expand early education scholarships, providing 10,000 more students with access to high quality child care and preschool. Governor Dayton has also proposed $40 million to help Minnesota school districts provide optional all-day kindergarten to students free of charge.
