ROSEVILLE – This Wednesday, Minnesota Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius will visit the School Readiness program in Mankato. Commissioner Cassellius will tour the four-star Parent Aware rated program before sitting down for an informal roundtable about early education in Minnesota. The roundtable will include program staff as well as parents who have enrolled their children in early learning through a state early learning scholarship. During the 2013 legislative session, Governor Mark Dayton and the Legislature invested $40 million in early learning scholarships to expand access to low income families.
For Blue Earth, Brown, Nicollet and Watonwan counties, $1.6 million in scholarships was made available over the biennium, providing nearly 400 children in the region with access to early learning opportunities.
Members of the media are invited to join Commissioner Cassellius for her tour and the informal discussion on early education.
