ANNOUNCEMENT

• Commissioner’s Monthly Dialogue with Superintendents

During yesterday’s conference call, Karen Cadigan, director of Early Learning, reported about Race to the Top – Early Learning Challenge activities. Updates were given regarding task forces, the Multiple Measurement Rating and next week’s data release timeline; school improvement plans; and highlights of the Education Omnibus bill and miscellaneous bills. As the Department prepares for the release of accountability data to the public next week, a letter, designed to explain and give context about the MMR for parents, was e-mailed yesterday afternoon to superintendents. Use of this letter is optional.

The last audio conference call scheduled for this school year is Wednesday, June 20, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Commissioner Cassellius encourages you to participate in these informative conference calls. She is happy to answer questions and hear your comments and concerns. Call-in instructions will be e-mailed to you prior to the conference call.

ACTION ITEM

• Minnesota Common Course Catalogue (MCCC)

WebEx Information Sessions for the final two MCCC data submissions, Staff Course Records and Student Course Records, for the 2010-2011 school year are being offered during the last week of May. These two submissions complete the grades 9-12 data collections for the initial implementation of the MCCC. Information on how to register for these sessions can be found on the MCCC webpage. For more information about these WebEx sessions or questions about the MCCC, please contact the MCCC team at mde.mccc@state.mn.us.

• Minnesota Board of Teaching Licensure Action

The Minnesota Board of Teaching has taken the following licensure action:

Ruggles-Johnson, Emily (FF 407524) On May 11, 2012, the Board of Teaching adopted a Stipulation Agreement suspending the teaching license of Ms. Ruggles-Johnson for one year.
