Race to the Top – District: New Deadline Announced

The U.S. Department of Education has reopened the Race to the Top – District competition to extend the deadline for submitting applications due to the fact that Hurricane Sandy prevented many applicants from submitting their Race to the Top – District applications by the October 30, 2012, deadline and closed Federal Government offices in Washington D.C. on October 29 and 30, 2012. For any Minnesota districts still interested in applying for the Race to the Top – District grants, the deadline has been extended to 4:30 p.m. EST on Friday, November 2. Visit the U.S. Department of Education website for further information.

Schools on GiveMN and Give to the Max Day – Register Now!

A new fundraising opportunity is available from the Bush Foundation and GiveMN.org called Schools on GiveMN. This initiative provides public schools with a free fundraising page on GiveMN.org where you can accept donations through their giving website. Information was shared about this during our leadership conference in August and some of you may already be participating.

On November 15, GiveMN will hold Give to the Max Day. During this event, GiveMN has set aside $34,000 in specific prize grants for schools that are signed up by November 1.  You can also learn more about how your school could be in the running for $10,000 on Give to the Max Day. Visit GiveMN. GiveMN is a great example of the richness of Minnesota’s philanthropic commitment and a great opportunity to enhance local fundraising efforts you may be doing in your own communities.
