Minnesota school districts are required to have in place a district process for addressing continuous improvement, community involvement and annual public reporting on curriculum, instruction and student achievement. A reporting checklist for 2007-08 and the Guidelines for 2008-09 School District Process and Annual Reporting can be read and downloaded from this page. Reporting Basic Skills Test data pertaining to grades 9-12 remains a requirement.

The graduating class of 2009 will be the last class to receive diplomas under Minnesota Rules 3501.0160 District Reporting Requirements and Minnesota Rules 3501.0140 Test Administration related to the Basic Skills Tests (BST). Due to data privacy issues, districts are not required to report the data when the number of students that have not met the BST requirement is nine or fewer students.

Districts will be receiving updates regarding revised requirements as the Graduation-Required Assessments for Diploma (GRAD) rules are finalized. Districts may disseminate their report in print through the local newspaper or school newsletters and/or by posting it on the district Website. If the Website is used, a notice that includes the URL of the document must be published in a print form that is available to the community, and print copies should be available to the public upon request.

Deadlines
October 1, 2008:  Report is approved by the local school board.
October 15, 2008:  Report is disseminated to the public (electronically and/or in print) AND one print copy of the report (along with the notice of the electronic document, if applicable) is submitted to MDE.  Mail report to:  Connie J.
